Rosewood Fanning Inaugural Competition Weekend

Welcome to our inaugural competition weekend!

Over Saturday and Sunday, June 29-30, at beautiful Union College in Schenectady, NY, we will be hosting multiple amazing musical events, all free and open to the public.

Enjoy our competitions on Saturday where you’ll get to see extraordinary competitors demonstrating their skills on the piano.

On Sunday, we’ll host two recitals: A French Affair featuring French Harpist Coline-Marie Orliac and many other astounding musicians, starts at 11:00 a.m. Our Winners’ Recital is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.

Also on Sunday, we’ll host a catered reception featuring many talented musicians. The reception is $10 per person (children under 12 accompanied by a paid guest are free). Learn more.

Saturday’s Schedule

  • 9am-3pm. Competitions full schedule forthcoming. Pianists will not be listed by name. However, each contestant will be identified at each site by photo and biography in a program.
  • The Franchezza Competition (under 16 years of age) will be held at the Emerson Auditorium at the Taylor Music Center (across the lawn from the Chapel).
  • The Capriccio Competition (16- under 30 years of age) will be held at the Memorial Chapel.
  • More information will be available about the exact schedule the final week of June.

Sunday's Schedule

  • 11am-1pm: A French Affair Music Program, Union College Memorial Chapel. Free. Learn more.
  • 12 noon-6pm: Catered Reception with Music. Union College’s College Park Ballroom. $10 paid in advance or pay at the door (cash, check or credit card accepted). Children under 12 free (with paying adult).  Reservations appreciated. Learn more.
  • 2pm: Competition Winner's Recital, Union College Memorial Chapel. Free. Enjoy the talent of our Competition Winners. Pianists applied from the Capital Region and surrounding counties, New York City, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New Jersey and have engaged with musical institutions such as the New England Conservatory, the College of St. Rose, University of Maryland and Temple University’s Boyer College. Pianists have won in piano competitions sponsored by Julliard, MTNA, Capital District Council for Young Musicians, Steinway, Metropolitan Academy (NYC), Yamaha International and the Chopin International Hartford CT.

Parking

  • Shuttle Parking at Seward/ Nott Lot both days. On Sunday, shuttle will stop at the College Park Ballroom starting at 11:30 for the reception and additional parking. (College Park is the former Ramada Inn at 450 Nott Street – near Erie Blvd and Rivers Casino).
